THE GANDHIAN BRAND

Adam: “I have searched the web over, under, and every other direction looking for ‘Indian Homespun’ with no real success. I have however discovered that its Indian name is ‘Khadi’.” One stroll through the Internet chat rooms discussing Star Wars’ costumes is enough to spot the excitement. While very few Indians are aware of the fact that some characters of the Star Wars prequels wore Khadi robes, the world over, fans are going crazy trying to locate this unique material. But the excitement is not restricted to the fans of Star Wars only. Usually associated with dull colours and boring designs, Khadi is being increasingly patronised by designers who are flaunting it in their collections internationally.
