The Kolkata-based Emami group is toying with the idea of either starting a TV channel dedicated to art or buying a few hours of telecast time in some leading channel and airing content on art. For the time being, the FMCG major – that has brands like BoroPlus, Sona Chandi Chawanprash and Fair & Handsome in its portfolio – is in the process of conducting a feasibility study. Already, Emami has set up an art auction house in Kolkata, the first of its kind in eastern Indian. It is also planning to set up an art centre. The TV channel content will include details of artist profiles auctions, galleries and exhibitions -- in India and abroad.
